Cosmetic dentistry is more that just making your teeth look great, it’s about ensuring good dental health. We offer a range of services that can repair, replace or improve the look of your teeth to give you a smile you’ll love.

Dental implants

It’s important to replace a missing tooth with an implant so that your other teeth don’t shift and cause further problems. The implant is made up of an artificial root and tooth and is designed to permanently replace a missing tooth. It is “implanted” into your jawbone by a small metal pin or screw. Once completed, it will look and feel like a real tooth.

Bridges

A bridge is a denture that anchors to the healthy teeth on either side of a missing tooth. It’s custom-shaped to your mouth and is permanent. As with many of our other procedures, there are several options available and we will discuss them with you beforehand so you get the bridge that’s right for you.

Crowns

Crowns, also known as caps, refer to the part of the tooth above the gum that is covered with enamel. Crowns are used on teeth too damaged for fillings. They help to protect and strengthen the tooth and are custom-made to fit your mouth comfortably.

Bonding

For cracked, chipped, misshapen or discoloured teeth, or just to fill in gaps, we use a technique called bonding. It’s an easy way to repair teeth and is a quick and painless procedure. A material called resin is used and it can be tinted to match your own teeth so that the bonding is unnoticeable.

Veneers

If you aren’t happy with your smile or the shape of your teeth, talk to us about veneers. Veneers are a less expensive alternative to crowns and are a relatively easy dental treatment. The plastic or porcelain facing is bonded directly onto a tooth to improve its appearance. Veneers give your smile a natural look.

Whitening - ZOOM! 2

Teeth whitening is an incredibly popular dental treatment. There are many whitening options available to you. We are happy to discuss them and answer any questions you may have about whitening your teeth. We use the Zoom! ™ Chairside Teeth Whitening System at Waterview Dental. It’s an all-inclusive whitening system that uses a hydrogen peroxide-based tooth whitener that makes your teeth gleam.

It’s important that you visit a dentist regularly. Routine dental visits help prevent tooth decay and gum diseases through early detection and treatment. Waterview Dental offers flexible business hours to accommodate your busy schedule.

We take your oral health seriously A complete dental examination of your teeth includes:
  • soft tissue examination
  • screening for periodontal diseases
  • a detailed charting of your cavities, existing fillings and dental work and any other conditions such as gingivitis or gum recession
Beyond brushing

When we clean your teeth, we remove plaque and tartar build-ups. Plaque is a soft deposit of bacteria on your teeth and tartar is a build-up of saliva, food and bacteria, or a hard deposit. Professional cleaning means we get to the stuff you missed or just couldn’t get rid of by brushing alone. Our hygienists will demonstrate the proper brushing and flossing techniques for you if you need a little help.

X-ray vision

No, we’re not superheroes, but we do have all the state-of-the-art equipment we need to take x-rays, also known as dental radiographs, and digital photographs of your teeth and gums. As part of a routine visit, we may take x-rays of your mouth. This helps us to locate cavities or bone loss - all the things that you can’t see - and to provide accurate and timely treatment.

Fluoride rinse

Fluoride helps harden the enamel of your teeth and makes them more resistant to acid and the bacteria that can eat away at the tooth’s surface. We want you to have strong, healthy teeth and a fluoride rinse is one of the easiest treatments you can get at the dentist’s office!

Remember to always use a toothpaste containing fluoride to help keep your teeth strong.

Seal the deal

Sealants are designed to prevent cavities. They’re made of a plastic material that’s applied to the part of your tooth used for chewing - mostly on the back teeth. Sealants create a physical barrier between your teeth and cavity-causing bacteria.

Fillings are what you need when you have a cavity. What we do to treat a cavity is give you a local anaesthetic, commonly referred to as “freezing”, and then we clean out any decay from the cavity to prevent it from growing any bigger. Then we fill the hole. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of the available filling materials with you before we proceed.

Pull out all the stops

When you need a tooth pulled, it’s called an extraction. There are several reasons why a tooth would be extracted instead of repaired:

  • if the tooth is severely decayed
  • if gum disease is an issue
  • if the tooth is broken in a way that makes repair difficult or impossible
  • if the tooth’s position in the mouth is causing problems to other teeth (for example, an impacted wisdom tooth can cause inflammation of the gums and allow tartar and plaque to build up)
  • in preparation for orthodontic treatment

Rest assured that we take every measure to ensure that your tooth extraction is as painless as possible. We encourage you to share with us any feelings of anxiety about the procedure so that we can take steps to alleviate your stress. Nitrous oxide is one of the options available to calm your nerves.

Laughter is the best medicine

Especially when that medicine is nitrous oxide. Also known as "laughing gas", nitrous oxide is a form of sedation to help you relax and eliminate discomfort. It’s not a substitute for “freezing” but if you feel that you need a little extra support to help you get through your procedure, we are happy to administer nitrous oxide.

Air of the future

At Waterview Dental, we want only the best for you. If you’re looking to jazz up your dental experience, ask us about trying out mint or grapefruit Flavored Oxygen as part of your treatment.

Cancer screening

When you come in for your appointment, we check for any lumps in and around the mouth and throat. Please do not hesitate to inform us of any changes you may have noticed in between visits. It’s not just your oral health that’s important to us, but your overall health too.

TMJ pain treatment

TMJ stands for the Temporo-Mandibular Joint. It’s the joint where your lower jaw joins your skull, right in front of the ear, on each side of the head. You exercise it every time you talk, eat or swallow. We check out the TMJ to ensure it’s functioning properly.

Please let us know if you experience any pain in this joint before or during your visit. We can discuss options to alleviate any discomfort you may have while chewing, talking or when you wake up.

Oral surgery

We know no one wants to undergo any dental work more involved than a good cleaning and polishing, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. Our committed, caring and highly trained staff are dedicated to taking you through any dental surgery in the most comfortable and convenient way possible.

To help you understand the types of procedures we perform at Waterview Dental, read over the list of treatments we offer and should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us at your next visit.

  • broken or fractured teeth

Endodontics (also known as root canal treatment)

Endondontics is the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the dental pulp - which is the soft tissue, skin, nerves and blood vessels around and inside the tooth.

Should you require any sort of endodontic treatment, we will explain the procedure in detail, provide you with your options regarding treatment and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Periodontics

Periodontics is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth. We are always happy to take the time to explain, educate and help you through any periodontic treatment you may need.

Invisalign

Invisalign braces are clear, removable aligners that help to straighten your teeth. They can be removed while you eat, brush and floss your teeth and are comfortable to wear. Since they’re clear, they’re not noticeable. Custom-molded to your teeth and mouth, Invisalign takes about a year to completely correct the alignment of your teeth.
